Panthers wrestling trio among state’s finest
The Glencoe-Silver Lake/Lester Prairie wrestling team’s season came to an official end over the weekend at the Class AA state tournament in St. Paul.
With it also came the conclusion of two Panther careers, but not before one of those seniors found himself upon the medal stand.
Nate Tesch earned a sixth-place finish at 152 pounds to close out his time with the team.
Tesch defeated Milaca’s Jack Barsody 9-3 and Simley’s Greg Kerkvliet 13-2 to advance to the consolation semifinals and clinch a spot on the medal stand.
GSL/LP’s other two state qualifiers, Brandon Richter and Nick Brelje found their state appearances to be unfortunately brief.
Richter lost his opening match at 138 in a narrow 6-4 decision against Simley’s Kyle Nordstrom.
Brelje lost 5-0 to Kasson-Mantorville’s Andy Bigelow in his inaugural state match.
