Permits, fees waived for Glencoe Days

The Glencoe City Council waived a number of Glencoe Days permits and fees at Monday night’s meeting after Glencoe Days spokesman Jon Van Damme made a brief presentation.
Van Damme said Glencoe Days will return to its old format after last year’s flooding washed out the June event. An abbreviated version was held in conjunction with Heat in the Street last July.
This year’s Glencoe Days celebration will be Friday and Saturday, June 26-27, with the annual parade set for 3 p.m. along the same 14th Street to 16th Street route. Prior to Glencoe Days, Van Damme said Glencoe Dairy Day will be held Thursday, June 25.
He said the Glencoe Days committee also will be involved with the Heat in the Street event in July.
Van Damme asked the City Council to waive the permits fees for the Glencoe Days Parade, the amusement rides and the annual fireworks. He also asked for city park department assistance with the setup and take down at Oak Leaf Park, extension of the park hours for the nightly entertainment at the park, and to give the Glencoe Days Committee a temporary 3.2 beer license for the two-day celebration.
