Planning panel recommends denial of permit
The city of Glencoe Planning Commission made a recommendation to the City Council to deny a special use permit (SUP) request after a public hearing Thursday, April 13.
The permit was requested by Glencoe Progressive Partners and its owners, Sam Scholl and Willard Exsted, to build two sets of custom twin homes, a total of four homes, along the 400 block of 20th Street West in Glencoe.
The twin homes, to be built by Tuchtenhagen Construction of Arlington, were to be custom built as they are sold and expected to be in the $200,000 range.
They would be 1,500 to 1,600 square feet, built without a basement, but with the option of a crawl space utility room.
The proposed site is currently three lots platted for single family homes. The developers would need to move the existing utilities and add a fourth at their expense to accommodate the proposal.
