Plato pounds Norwood

A pair of home victories last weekend kept the Plato Blue Jays near the very top of the Crow River Valley League standings, as the squad posted a 7-2 record in the month of June. 
The Blue Jays carry a 12-4 overall record into July and begin the month one-half game off the lead pace of Brownton in the CRVL southern division with a 10-3 league mark.
A non-league loss to Class B Beaudreau’s Saints was just the second loss of the month for Plato, who traveled to St. Cloud to take on the Saints on Friday, June 26.
Nolan Lepel drove in all four of the Blue Jays’ runs on a 3-for-3 day with two singles and a double. Kyle Panning was the only other Plato player to amass more than one hit, striking two singles and scoring twice, in the five-inning defeat. Joe Nix pitched three innings and took the loss on the mound for the visitors.
