Plato pounds a pair of opponents

After suffering a frustrating loss to end the previous weekend, the Plato Blue Jays took it out on a pair of Crow River Valley League rivals as part of a clean sweep of this past weekend’s three-game set.
Plato opened the stretch with a 13-5 thumping of host Winsted on Friday, July 14. Jake VonBerge, Tyler Lang and Nolan Lepel each notched a pair of RBI, with Chris Odegaard scoring three runs while Matt Odegaard and Mitch Boesche scored twice apiece.
It was a close game until the Blue Jays broke it open with a four-run sixth inning to help make a winner of starting pitcher Adam Prehn. Prehn went seven innings, scattering nine hits with no walks and giving up just one earned run while striking out nine batters. Boesche came on to pitch the final two innings of the victory.
Plato overcame a 3-0 third-inning deficit in a big way the next day at New Germany, scoring five runs in the fourth inning and six more in the sixth en route to a 17-6 pasting of the Dutchmen.
Nolan Lepel joined both Chris and Matt Odegaard with home runs in the contest, while VonBerge logged five RBI and three runs scored as the Blue Jays lit up the scoreboard. Chris Odegaard picked up the win with four innings of four-hit relief, allowing no earned runs while striking out four.
