Pola-Czesky Days start up Friday night

Silver Lake’s annual Pola-Czesky Days will be this weekend starting Friday night and continuing through Sunday night.
The event kicks off, literally, with a kickball tournament at 7 p.m. on Friday night at the softball field. Toilet bowl races will also take place at the same time downtown. After the races Mitch Gordon and the Unleaded Band will take the stage for a street dance and beer garden music near the auditorium.
Saturday’s activities start at 8 a.m. with the return of the 5K walk and run. A volleyball tournament will also by played at the same time that morning at the sports complex. A second kickball tournament will take place at the softball field at 9 a.m. The kiddie parade will begin at 10 a.m. in the auditorium followed by kiddie games at Legion Park. Shortly after kids can participate in the pedal pull down Main Street at 12:30 p.m.
The classic car show will be open from 1-6 p.m. on Saturday with trophies awarded at 5 p.m. on Main Street, west of Legion Park.
A bean bag tournament by the tent and Minnesota Mini-E tractor pull, both stock and modified, on Main Street will take place at 1 p.m.
Polka Mass will take place at 7 p.m.
The royalty ball and a street dance and beer garden with music by Total Country Band will start at 8:30 p.m. The night will close with a firework display at 10 p.m.
Sunday will open with an outdoor community worship service by Faith Presbyterian and Grace Bible churches at 9 a.m. at Legion Park. The Silver Lake Lion’s will host a pork chop dinner at 11 a.m. after the service.
Registration for a giveaway of two Quad Core tablets with Google Play from Western Fraternal Life Lodge 34 will begin at 11 a.m. for youth 15 years or younger. The tablets will be handed out to winners 15 minutes after the parade. Youth must be present to win.
The parade will start at 1 p.m. on the east end of Main Street and make its way to the swimming pool. Following the parade will be a free ice cream social and a history of Silver Lake round table at Legion Park.
Pola-Czesky royalty will be crowned at the coronation at 3  p.m. in the auditorium.
The weekend will end with a street dance and beer garden in the auditorium parking lot starting at 3 p.m. Prairie Rose Band will provide entertainment.  
The Silver Lake Fire Department will draw its raffle at 6:30 p.m. Prizes include a first prize of $200, second prize of $100 and third prize of $100. The Silver Lake pool raffle will follow at 8 p.m. First prize is $3,000, second prize is $1,500, third prize is $500 and the seven remaining prizes are $100.
