Post 5102 baseballers sweep LeSueur-Henderson

The Glencoe VFW Post 5102 baseball team has begun its summer season by winning two of its first three games. After opening the schedule with a 4-3 loss at Delano on Wednesday, June 5, the squad bounced back to sweep a home doubleheader against LeSueur-Henderson on Monday, June 10.
Glencoe took both ends of the double-dip at Vollmer Field, winning 4-0 and 5-2 with pitchers Jake Christianson and Blake Mickolichek earning the wins.
Christianson tossed a three-hit shutout in the first game while striking out five batters with no walks. In the nightcap, Mickolichek scattered seven hits and two runs while striking out five before Zach Voelz tossed the final inning to earn a save.
Both pitchers helped his own causes by leading the team at the plate in their respective games. In Game 1, Christianson claimed a pair of hits, two stolen bases and an RBI. In Game 2, Mickolichek recorded a triple and three RBI to account for the winning margin. Beau Lepel scored twice and also had a single, while Joey Barrett also smacked a triple.
Post 5102 is back in action Wednesday night with a doubleheader against Holy Family, with the first game scheduled to start at 6 p.m. Glencoe is slated to play another twinbill on Monday, with Belle Plaine coming to town for another 6 p.m. start.
