Post 641 still alive in district playoffs
The Plato American Legion Post 641 baseball team remained alive in the Third District Division II Tournament after going 2-1 in the opening weekend of the playoffs in Waterville and Montgomery.
Plato opened with a win and a loss on Saturday, July 15, before downing a familiar foe the next day to advance to the final brackets of tournament play this weekend.
Starting pitcher Peyton Sell tossed six innings of four-hit ball to earn the win in a 4-2 defeat of Zumbrota-Mazeppa in the playoff opener.
Plato rallied from a 2-0 deficit with two runs in the fourth and one more tally in both the fifth and sixth innings to seal the victory. Luke Frahm pitched one scoreless inning for the save.
