Put your money where your mouth is
During my years in advertising one of the most clever slogans I encountered was that of a bank expansion that now included an old dentist office: “Put your money where your mouth was!” really impressed my creative mind. As we look ahead to revitalizing and expanding the city we hope to be, as we solicit and evaluate ideas and dreams, when we get serious about making things happen…
“Putting our money where our mouth was” is a challenge well stated.
Thank you, Mayor Voss, councilpersons and citizens who will implement the Comprehensive Plan in the years to come! Your leadership is appreciated. Our followership has been invited.
Money will be needed and lots of it. Seen as an investment in our children and children to follow them it will be worth the price. At least as important and probably more essential to success will be that of citizen time and talent applications to the development we seek. Even the smallest assessment of skills and non-monetary assets leads one to believe we can be successful. Cash commitments from near and far will help but the future of Glencoe will largely be funded by donated skills. Plans will be best made by purposeful participants. Facilities will be built by friends with vision and valuable energy.
Take a moment or two to face your mental mirror. What is your gift? When and how will you choose to make it? Join the growing group of concerned neighbors intent on assuring the big future of our small city!
