Residents stand against solar garden, proposal gets tabled until next month
A Minneapolis-based solar company is looking to build a solar garden in Hale Township, but local residents, township supervisors and an attorney representing a nearby property owner banded together to contest the half-megawatt solar garden proposal.
In front of a packed audience, the county planning commission last Wednesday, Jan. 22, tabled U.S. Solar’s solar garden proposal until next month. The construction site would be on private property.
The Hale Township Board of Supervisors recommended denial for a host of reasons. The three foremost issues, based on the reoccurrence of the topics at the meeting, were stray voltage, the construction site being on prime farmland and aesthetics.
