Rising COVID-19 numbers pushes GSL into hybrid model

Change for November; decision on December coming soon
Faced with rising numbers of COVID-19 numbers, the Glencoe-Silver Lake School Board unanimously approved a switch from in-person learning to hybrid learning for kindergarteners through sixth-graders for the rest of November and possibly longer.
The decision at the Nov. 9 school board meeting will be implemented Monday, Nov. 16. As for December, the decision will be made by Nov. 24 and largely be dependent on the number of cases in the district’s students as well as the staff, said Superintendent Chris Sonju.
The district opened the 2020-2021 school year with its elementary-schoolers in a hybrid-learning model.
