Season's end for Bruins

Two agonizingly close losses at the Region 7C Tournament spelled the end of the season for the Brownton Bruins.
Brownton, which entered the regional bracket as an eighth seed on the strength of a playoff win over Glencoe, lost 3-1 to No. 1 seed Green Isle on Thursday, Aug. 3, before succumbing to fifth-seeded Young America three days later.
Playing at Waconia, Dylan McCormick pitched the opener for the Bruins against an Irish squad that had swept both games in the regular-season series between the teams.
McCormick was sparkling, facing just two batters over the minimum through five innings to stoke Brownton’s upset hopes.
However, Green Isle broke through for a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth – taking what proved to be an insurmountable lead.
