A short life well lived; Brandon Overman made the most of each day

Each day was another opportunity, another chance for Brandon Overman to enjoy life. His parents say he made the most of those chances and enjoyed a life well lived.
Friday, Aug.16, the Overman family and many friends said farewell at his funeral at Christ Lutheran Church. Brandon Overman passed away from heart failure Sunday, Aug. 11, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. He was just 24 years old.
Brandon was Lisa and Mark Overman’s first of four children. He was born in Glencoe. The doctors quickly discovered he was born with spina bifida, a congenital defect of the spine in which part of the spinal cord and its meninges are exposed through a gap in the backbone. It often causes paralysis of the lower limbs.
The Overman family overcame challenges of caring for Brandon when he was young. His family owns vehicles adapted for Brandon’s wheelchair. A ramp to the front door helped him enjoy independence.
