Silver Lake City Council awards demolition bid
The Silver Lake City Council awarded the bid for the demolition of four buildings on Main Street at a special meeting Thursday.
The low bid was received by US SiteWork of Elk River for $76,961.
The city received five bids ranging from the low US SiteWork bid to a high bid of $173,685. The projected cost was estimated at $110,000.
Paul Ragozzino, an architect from Short Elliot Hendrickson, Inc., checked the companies’ references and received good comments about all.
The bid includes asbestos abatement, demolition, grading and seeding.
A subcontractor will be used to handle the asbestos.
The contractor will work with the city to ensure utilities are disconnected and to close the street if necessary. It is expected that most of the demolition work will be done from the alley.
The project is expected to be completed by Dec. 15, with final grading and seeding to be done in the spring.
