Silver Lake Council looks at capital improvement plans
The Silver Lake City Council held its quarterly meeting on Monday, Oct. 5.
The Council uses these meetings for more in-depth strategic planning, work on the capital improvement plans, or to hear presentations as needed.
The quarterly meetings are held in January, April, July and October.
The main item on Monday’s agenda was the capital improvement plan.
Over the last couple of months, the Council has developed a five-year capital improvement plan to allow city staff and the Council to plan for bigger projects, such has vehicle replacement or major utility improvement projects. It is used as a road map and can be adjusted as needed.
At the September meeting, the Council heard a feasibility report from Short Elliott Hendrickson (SEH) for a project to improve the city’s underground utilities and street surface on a two block stretch of Cleveland Street, from East Avenue to Lake Avenue.
The project comes with a price tag of over $850,000 with assessments to some property owners reaching over $27,000.
