Silver Lake Council ponders fees

The Silver Lake City Council continued to review its 2018 fee schedule Monday.
City Clerk Jon Jerabek told the council he had contacted the ambulance billing service to obtain a comparison of fees for ambulance services and worked with the city’s ambulance chief.
Fees for basic life support ranged from $500 in Jackson to nearly $1,700 in Cottage Grove. Mileage charges ranged from $11 to $31.
The city’s current ambulance fee is $650 for basic life support and $11 for mileage.
Jerabek proposed an increase to $750 and $13.
The city’s building inspector, Scott Qualle from MnSpect, also was at the meeting to review building permit changes and answer the council’s questions.
Qualle said that the hourly rate has been increased from $60 to $65, the first increase in nearly 10 years.
