SL council OKs additional historical study on Auditorium
The City of Silver Lake has been diligently working for a couple of years on securing federal financing and grants for a substantial water, sewer and street infrastructure project.
The progress moves slowly when the federal government is involved, additional steps are often required.
For example, at the March 21 city council meeting, Jordan Van Oort of Short Elliot Hendrickson Inc. (SEH) informed the council the Minnesota State Historic Preservation Office (MnSHPO) is now requiring additional studies on the Auditorium, built in 1941 by the Works Projects Administration (WPA).
