Space needs discussion takes another turn in Silver Lake

Space is at a premium for the city departments in Silver Lake.
Over the last two months, Harvey Mikolichek, representing local organizations, has spoken with the city council about moving the city office to the basement of the city’s auditorium and converting two stalls in the city shed (attached to the city offices) for fire department storage.
At the Sept. 11 planning commission meeting, Mikolichek presented rough drawings and cost estimates of both plans.
The city shed plan is estimated to cost $21,000 which would include, $6,000 to improve the entrances to the two bays, $12,000 to insulate and tin the area and $3,000 to heat and rewire the location.
Mikolichek said the Lions Club would donate the $3,000 for the materials for the bay entrances and the organizations and fire departments would donate the labor. Mayor Bruce Bebo said he had an almost brand-new heater that he would be willing to donate to the project.
The planning commission voted to recommend the plan to the city council, asking for a more formal plan, with quotes on work.
