Spikers perfect in WCC West

Carrying the flag for Glencoe-Silver Lake this fall sports season has been the Panther volleyball team.
In search of a fifth-consecutive Wright County Conference West title, GSL remains atop the conference standings with a 5-0 circuit mark and a 17-5 overall record.
The Panthers won their seventh consecutive match on Monday, Oct. 8, sweeping visiting Maple Lake 25-21, 25-22, 25-21 in a non-conference matchup.
Hitters Olivia Lemke and Kasidy Cacka led the GSL attack with 14 and 13 kills, respectively, in the tightly-contested matchup.
Fellow hitter Rhyan Herrmann contributed eight kills and 13 digs.
Setter Hannah Boesche led the hosts with 32 set assists, while libero Maren Roepke paced the squad with 20 digs.
Roepke also had three service aces to give her 100 for her Panther career. The sophomore has Cortney Konen’s team record of 119 aces well within her sights.
Cacka and defensive specialist Kaleigh Rumrill each had a perfect night serving, going 19-for-19 and 12-for-12 respectively. Cacka also had two service aces on the night.
The Panthers added Monday night’s non-conference win with a pair of WCC West victories last week.
GSL remained perfect in conference play by gritting out a five-game win (25-14, 19-25, 25-17, 19-25, 15-3) at Litchfield on Tuesday, Oct. 2, and then shutting out Rockford (25-14, 25-17, 25-16) at home two nights later. Statistics from the matches were not available.
