The annual districtwide spelling bee was held Friday afternoon at Glencoe-Silver Lake Schools, with contestants from GSL and First Lutheran School competing. The seven-round bee ended with the word “formaldehyde.” Reese Magnuson, right, was the champion, and Kindrid Sandberg, left, was the runner-up. Magnuson received a dictionary and Sandberg received a thesaurus, both gifts from The McLeod County Chronicle.
