Stewart Council’s new year off to a quiet start
The Stewart City Council breezed through its first meeting of 2017 in about an hour Monday night.
The City Council discussed its proposed north bypass road, to be known as Mill Street, with engineer Andy Kehren of Bolton & Menk.
At issue is whether the city should bid the project with turning lanes off County Road 7. The new road will extend from County Road 7 on the northern edge of the city to Form-A-Feed, which is located on the northwest corner of the city.
Kehren suggested bidding the turn lanes as alternates. The city can then decide once bids are received if it wants to pursue the turning lanes, or keep the cost down by providing paved shoulders.
