Students not getting full history of USA, Republicans hear at county convention
American schools are doing their students a disservice by ignoring certain aspects of U.S. history, Janet Beihoffer told those gathered for the annual McLeod County Republicans convention Saturday morning. The convention was held at the Silver Lake Auditorium.
Beihoffer, who is the Minnesota Republican National Committee chairwoman, has roots in education. She currently is an adjunct professor at Metropolitan State University in St. Paul.
“Our students are not getting information on the founding of our country,” said Beihoffer.
Beihoffer ran through the roots of the United States of America system of government, tracing them all the way back to the Roman and Greek empires, and tracing them through the impact of the Germanic invasion of Great Britain, the Norman influence and the subsequent birth of the U.S. Constitution.
In particular, Beihoffer said, students need to understand just how the government operates, and that its basis is in states versus individual rights.
