Track and field teams prep for sectionals

The Glencoe-Silver Lake track and field teams are in the midst of progressing from their regular season into the postseason, with the subsectional and Section 2A meets coming up fast on the calendar.

Last week, the Panthers turned in two of their final three pre-postseason contests, competing in an invitational meet at Watertown-Mayer on Thursday, May 11, two days after taking part in the Section 6AA True Team meet at Willmar.

Kyle Christensen won the 200-meter dash in 23.62 seconds and took second in the 100-meter dash in 11.63 at the Invite. He was one of several Panthers to have a successful day in Watertown.

Austin Schroepfer won the 1600-meter run in four minutes, 41.35 seconds, with Michael Meyer in second at 4:52.27. Meyer then won the 3200-meter run in 10:53.20, with Jakob Rusten in second at 11:10.02.

Tyler Ehrke won the 300-meter hurdles in 44.98, with the 4x200- and 4x800-meter relay teams also taking first with respective times of 1:39.66 and 9:03.23.
