Unfinished business – Council wants to complete delayed first floor restrooms at City Center

A decade ago, they were the victims of cost-cutting and budget constraints during the renovation of the old high school as it was transformed into Glencoe City Center. Now, the city council is backing a plan to finish off the two restrooms on the west end of the building’s main floor.
During a workshop Monday afternoon, April 8, the council heard a plan to complete the unfinished restrooms. The hope is to have the work done in time for a 10-year celebration during the summer of 2020, said Gary Ziemer, a former city councilor working on the fundraising effort.
The city plans to work with Rice Companies, a local builder-architect-development firm. The company will move forward on developing formal plans for the completion of the two restrooms. The estimated cost of the renovation is about $132,000.
