Varsity Knowledge Bowlers win at Chaska
On Saturday, Feb. 17, Glencoe-Silver Lake (GSL) Knowledge Bowlers went to Chaska’s Jan Baker Invitational, where the varsity won the championship and the junior varsity placed fourth. There were 13 schools with 49 total teams from a wide area of the state, including Andover, Big Lake, Chanhassen, Chaska, Hastings, Holy Angels, Holy Family, Prior Lake, Renville County West, St. Francis, St. Thomas Academy and Southwest Christian. GSL was hoping for some good competition at its final Saturday meet, and it was not disappointed.
Holy Family had the high score on the written round with 44. GSL had 41, putting it in fifth place to start the meet. In the first round against Chanhassen and Hastings, GSL dominated Room Two 19-11-10, then moved up to Room One for the rest of the meet. GSL competed against Holy Family and Prior Lake in the second round, winning that round 19-14-8. In the third round, Holy Family barely won room one against GSL and St. Thomas 14-13-13. Chanhassen had a fantastic final round in Room One, beating GSL and Holy Family 21-12-8. GSL barely won the meet with 109.5 points, while Chanhassen finished second with 108. Holy Family earned third place with 102.0. The GSL team members were Jack Gepson, Austin Pinske, Brett Baumgarten and Jacob Reichow.
