We look forward to the 2019-2020 school year

To the editor,
Where has the summer gone? August is here and school is right around the corner.
While I am not wishing away the wonderful summer days, I can’t be more excited to get the 2019-2020 school year underway. I’m eager to get the students back to start another year of success stories and learning experiences. It’s going to be a great year.
GSL Schools will be pushing back its start times for the 2019-2020 school year. For the upcoming school year, GSL High School and Junior High will start at 8:12 a.m. and finish at 3:20 p.m. GSL Lakeside will start at 8:10 a.m. and finish at 3 p.m. and GSL Lincoln will begin at 8:15 a.m. and finish at 3:10 p.m. Bus times will be communicated later this summer, but most changes will only be about 5-10 minutes.
We are hoping that this change will make a positive impact for our students and staff. I want to thank all the families for their flexibility with this change. Our fall newsletter will be coming out soon to provide information on the upcoming school year, which will include more on the time change and daily schedules.
The parking lot is coming along and should be all finished up this week. Aug. 12 will be the expected date where the public can use it. Please continue to use the Lincoln parking lot for another week. The parking lot in Silver Lake is expected to be completed Aug. 26. Thank you everyone for your patience while this project is being completed. We appreciate it.
Finally, I want to take this time to say thank you to all of the families and community members that continue to support GSL. We appreciate your commitment and dedication towards our school. We have a lot to be proud of and our goal is to only get better. Our mission is: “Creating a culture where education is valued, excellence is expected, and lifelong learning thrives.”
I’m proud to be a part of GSL and look for to the 2019-2020 school year.
