Work to begin Friday on 30th, 100th streets

Rehabilitation projects on County Roads 17 (30th Street) and 26 (100th Street) are scheduled to begin Friday, July 17. County Road 17 will close today (Thursday) and County Road 26 will close tomorrow (Friday). County Road 17 is south of Brownton; County Road 26 is northwest of Brownton, and west of Highway 15.
Knife River of Sauk Rapids, MN was awarded the projects.
The rehabilitation projects involve milling, bituminous reclamation, and bituminous surfacing. The reclamation is a process where machines crush the existing black top surface in place; this material is then used as the base course for new bituminous surfacing.
The roads will be closed to through traffic; there will be no posted detours in place. Local traffic having business along the roads will be permitted on the closed roads and should expect a gravel-type surface, minor delays, and inconveniences.
The projects are expected to be completed around mid-September 2015.
The combined cost of the projects is $3.4 million and is funded with State Aid and County funds.
