Wraspir no-hits Sibley East in softball opener

Despite the weather, the Glencoe-Silver Lake softball season opened in just about
the best way possible.
The Panthers shrugged off the cold and rainy conditions and thumped visiting Sibley
East by a score of 11-1.
Starting pitcher Brianna Wraspir no-hit the Wolverines, striking out nine batters
while walking two over a six-inning complete game victory. She gave up just one
unearned run as the visitors scored their lone run on a pair of errors in the second
inning.
GSL never trailed in the game, taking a 1-0 first-inning lead with Wraspir scoring the
run.
The Panthers broke open the 1-1 tie with two runs in the fourth and fifth innings
before ending matters with a six-run sixth frame.
Miranda Litzau knocked in three runs, while Wraspir and Elise Petersen each logged
two RBI.
Hannah Boesche and Kasidy Cacka joined Wraspir and Litzau with two runs scored
apiece. Cacka went 4-for-4 at the plate to open the season with a 1.000 batting
average.
GSL played at Litchfield in its Wright County Conference West opener on Tuesday,
April 9, after the Chronicle went to press.
