Twenty-seven batters up, 27 batters down – all in a day’s work for Adam Prehn.
Plato’s starting pitcher for the second round of the Region 7C Tournament on Sunday, Aug. 6, in New Germany, Prehn faced the challenging task of taking on Crow River Valley League North Division champion Waconia with a berth in the state tournament on the line.
In just under two hours time, Prehn finished his day with none of his 97 pitches accounting for a hit or a walk.
He had thrown a perfect game; the Blue Jays won 4-0.
After his final pitch amounted to a game-ending infield groundout, Prehn and his teammates celebrated not only pitching perfection – but also a return to the state tournament.
“That was fun,” said Prehn who struck out four batters in the game. “Just one of those days when I got lucky.”
