Janette Goettl, 54, of Brownton, died Tuesday, May 22, 2018, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
A private family service will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Glencoe. A celebration of life will be held at Backwoods Bar and Grill in New Auburn on Saturday, June 23, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
Janette was a very giving person, and her final gift was a full body donation to the University of Minnesota for use in educational research.
Janette Louise Goettl was born Dec. 10, 1963, in New Prague, the seventh child to Stanley and Betty Goettl. She was baptized at St. John’s Catholic Church in New Prague, and confirmed at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Glencoe, and was a graduate with the class of 1982 in Glencoe.
Janette had several career changes over the years and put her heart and soul into whatever she did. Business ventures included Janette’s Hair Studio, Nature Avenue Productions and The Health Nut Pantry.
She enjoyed hunting and the outdoors, teaching gun safety to women and girls for more than 18 years, singing karaoke, videotaping family and community events, making people laugh, but most of all the she enjoyed time spent with Fred, family, friends and her dog, Jady.
She is survived by her very special friend, Mike “Fred” Karg of Brownton; mother, Betty Goettl of New Auburn; siblings, Peter Goettl of Glencoe, Edward (Jane) Goettl of New Auburn, Clarine (Bob) Stepien of Glencoe, Evon (Barry) Schwarze of Glencoe, Deb (Robert) Houghton of Glencoe, Rosy (Brian) Quast of Gaylord, Charles (Deb) Goettl of New Auburn, and Teddy Goettl of Glencoe; many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Stanley Goettl.
