We are excited to provide an update on the current fundraising campaign for remodeling the west wing restrooms at the Glencoe City Center. Earlier this spring the city council authorized the campaign with the goal of raising $30,000 to match the $102,000 that has already been committed to the project. Amounts previously committed include the City of Glencoe for $50,000 and private donations of $52,000.
We’re pleased to report that in the first seven weeks of the campaign we’ve raised roughly $22,000. This means we’re only $8,000 away from our goal.
This past year was the busiest year to date at the Glencoe City Center. We’re honored to be a gathering spot for weddings, musical performances, elections, reunions, birthday parties and various other social gatherings. We’re also home to Glencoe’s Public Library, which has expanded greatly since relocating to the facility in 2010.
The success of the building, and the resulting increased usage by the public, now make it necessary to complete a second set of restrooms on the main floor near the building’s west entrance. These original restrooms were included in the building remodel project back in 2010, but were postponed at that time due to budget constraints.
The goal is to complete the fundraising by Sept. 1, which would allow construction to be completed by June of 2020. The restrooms would then be fully usable as the building celebrates its 10-year anniversary in October of 2020.
With your continued commitment, this goal will be reached and the construction can be completed as planned.
The completion of this second set of bathrooms on the main floor is a needed improvement, and we’re confident the community will support this project.
