Logan Anderson, part-time Brownton police officer and full-time McLeod County sheriff’s deputy, stood before the Brownton City Council to encourage the council to reconsider its sick pay policy for full-time employees.
Anderson was a full-time employee with the Brownton Police Department and part-time with the sheriff’s office before deciding to go a different route after almost three years.
The council formally declined to pay out his sick pay at an earlier meeting because Anderson hadn’t worked the minimum of five years to receive sick pay. Full-time employees are entitled to a 30 percent payout for unused sick days after five years, per city ordinance.
