Meeting Minutes
06/17/19
Commissioners Nagel, Pohlmeier, Krueger, Shimanski and Wright were present. Auditor-Treasurer Connie M. Kurtzweg, Assessor Sue Schulz, Interim County Administrator Sheila Murphy and Administrative Assistant Liz Danielson were also present.
At the request of the Auditor-Treasurer, all present recited the Pledge of Allegiance.
Interim County Administrator Sheila Murphy administered the Board of Appeal and equalization Oath to members of the Board of Appeal and Equalization.
The County Auditor-Treasurer conducted the election for Board of Appeal and Equalization Chair. Krueger moved, Pohlmeier seconded and the motion passed unanimously to elect Commissioner Nagel as Board of Appeal and Equalization Chairperson.
Chairperson Nagel conducted the election of Board of Appeal and Equalization Vice Chairperson. Wright moved, Shimanski seconded and the motion passed unanimously to elect Commissioner Krueger as Board of Appeal and Equalization Vice Chairperson.
The County Assessor, Sue Schulz, requested to add under Recommendations from County Assessor, Item D, Joseph and Wendy Remer – 21.003.0660 and Item E, Melro Properties, LLC – 22.136.0010 Shimanski moved, Wright seconded and motion carried unanimously to approve the agenda as revised.
Nagel moved, Krueger seconded and motion carried unanimously to approve Assessor’s recommendation of no change in valuation for parcel 01.012.0300.
Kurtzweg moved to approve the Assessor’s recommendation of no change in classification or valuation for parcel 01.012.0500. Motion died for lack of a second. Nagel moved to reduce the valuation of parcel 01.012.0500 to $80,000.00 for the year payable 2020. Motion died for lack of a second. Shimanski moved, Krueger seconded and motion passed unanimously to reduce the valuation of parcel 01.012.0500 to $65,000.00 for the year payable 2020.
Thomas and Sharon Schwartz were not in attendance for their scheduled appearance, therefore no discussion nor action occurred for parcel 01.034.0100.
Pohlmeier moved, Shimanski seconded and motion carried unanimously to approve Assessor’s recommendation of no change in classification for parcels 06.017.0070; 06.020.0700; and 06.033.0200.
Nagel moved, Shimanski seconded and motion carried unanimously to reduce the valuation of parcel 01.035.1400 to $320,000.00 for the year payable 2020.
Wright moved, Pohlmeier seconded and motion carried unanimously to postpone further discussion and action of parcel 14.078.0010 until June 24, 2019 at 4:30 p.m. at the McLeod County Fairgrounds Country Diner to allow Mr. and Mrs. Otto time to collect information from their attorney regarding split classification.
Shimanski moved, Krueger seconded and motion carried unanimously to approve the Assessor’s recommendation to reduce the valuation of parcel 23.108.0060 to $239,700.00 for the year payable 2020.
Wright moved, Shimanski seconded and motion carried unanimously to postpone further discussion and action of parcel 23.050.1870 until June 24, 2019 at 4:30 p.m. at the McLeod County Fairgrounds Country Diner to allow the Assessor time to collect additional information.
Wright moved, Pohlmeier seconded and motion carried unanimously to approve the Assessor’s recommendation to reduce the valuation of parcel 23.344.0030 from $192,300.00 to $182,000.00 for the year payable 2020.
Shimanski moved, Krueger seconded and motion carried unanimously to approve the Assessor’s recommendation to reduce the valuation of parcel 03.065.0010 from $590,300.00 to $474,400.00 for the year payable 2020.
Shimanski moved, Wright seconded and motion carried unanimously to approve the Assessor’s recommendation to reduce the valuation of parcel 21.003.0660 from $403,900.00 to $400,000.00 for the year payable 2020.
Krueger moved, Kurtzweg seconded and motion carried unanimously to approve the Assessor’s recommendation to reduce the valuation of parcel 22.136.0010 from $455,700.00 to $398,600.00 for the year payable 2020.
Shimanski moved, Krueger seconded and motion carried unanimously to recess until June 24,2019 at 4:30 p.m. at the McLeod County Fairgrounds Country Diner.
