A food giveaway to help people dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic drew hundreds of people to Oak Leaf Park Thursday, June 4. A string of vehicles extended out of the park, over the Highway 212 bridge and into downtown Glencoe. Volunteers served 724 households and 2,043 people. Second Harvest Heartland donated 24 tons of food to be donated. Just over 40 volunteers worked at the event. It was a tremendous community event, said Lennie Albers, executive director at McLeod Emergency Food Shelf.
